Accessing our apartments
If you have a disability it’s important to know you can book a room that will meet your needs. Although there are still improvements to be made, there are aspects of our apartments that offer features that will suit a wide range of people’s needs. Below are the things that our apartments offer, so that you know what to expect when you book with us. If you have any questions regarding accessibility, please contact us and we will do as much as we can to assist.
Ground floor apartments
Due to the age and nature of our historic properties, we are unable to offer the facility of a lift and all of our properties include a range of stairs. We understand that lifts and stairs offer a challenge to some people and that a ground floor bedroom can make a stay much more relaxing. Many of our apartments can accommodate this. Please contact us to find out which apartments will suit you.
Walk in showers
Most of our apartments offer walk in showers enabling you to have a wash without the need to climb over a bath or step into it. Most showers also provide generous space.
Entrances to properties
Unfortunately due to the historical nature of our properties there are steps up to all of the entrances. However we have installed hand rails where possible. The steps needed to climb are different for each of our properties, so please contact us about your requirements and we can assist on the right property for you.
Left and right bed transfer
Most of our bedrooms offer the ability to transfer from the bed from both sides, making it easer for you to get up in the morning or drift off to sleep at night. To make sure you get the best possible bedroom for your needs, please speak to us and we can assist.
Sufficient space
Navigating a wheelchair around certain spaces can be tricky. Our open plan living arrangements means that we provide generous space for our guests. If you need certain arrangements made to the space before you arrive, please let us know and we can work out a plan so that you can relax properly and enjoy the space in a way that suits you. We also have a few apartments where we have adjoining doors so that two apartments can be connected, or the availability of sofa beds, should you need this for carers to join you.
